The Boomerang Syndrome: Even though Harry Ellis Dickson, associate conductor laureate of the Boston Pops Orchestra, did his stint with the San Diego Pops earlier this month, he will return to San Diego on Sunday to lead the local Pops in a benefit program for the Bishop’s School in La Jolla. When the San Diego Pops schedule was put together last year, Dickson was scheduled to conduct this week. The San Diego Pops management rescheduled his engagement so that Dickson, who is Michael Dukakis’ father-in-law, could attend the Democratic National Convention in Atlanta. The La Jollans, however, had already contracted to have Dickson play the extra concert. In return for the favor of rescheduling his Pops appearance, Dickson agreed to come back for his one-night stand in La Jolla.
