Local News in Brief : Fire Threatens Theater
- Share via
A landmark East Los Angeles theater was threatened briefly Wednesday when fire damaged two offices in front of the building, county firefighters said.
Officials are investigating the cause of the 3:04 a.m. fire at the Golden Gate Theater, which caused an estimated $100,000 damage, firefighter Eduardo Hernandez said.
The theater, at the corner of Whittier and Atlantic boulevards, has been closed for some time but remains standing while lawmakers and residents argue over its historical significance.
