Coastline Community College is offering free teacher’s-aide training to people 55 years or older.
The aim of the class, Education 100, is to teach people to serve as classroom helpers or teacher aides in public schools in Orange County. The three-week class begins Aug. 15 and will be taught by Barbara Hayman, a veteran teacher in the Santa Ana Unified School District. Hayman said 19 of 20 students who completed the program last year received employment offers from local school districts.
The class will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon at Coastline’s Costa Mesa Center, 2990 Mesa Verde Drive East. Registration information may be obtained by calling the college’s admissions office at (714) 241-6176.
