With all the prophets of doom writing anything possible to make that extra buck, it was heartening to read Meltzer’s column. I can’t go into a bookstore without seeing a massive display of books about something like “The Great Depression of 1990.” As long as people understand our history and keep the American Dream alive, those doom prophets will be kicking themselves for not recognizing of what stuff those dreams are made--faith, confidence and trust in the American way of life.
