Local News in Brief : Harbor Panel Elects President

Ira Distenfield has been elected to a one-year term as president of the Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners. Distenfield succeeds Jun Mori, who had served two consecutive one-year terms as president of the five-member board.
Distenfield, who joined the board last year, was elected by fellow board members this week. Mori, a board member since 1977, was elected vice president for the coming year.
The board, which is appointed by the mayor of Los Angeles, oversees the operation of the Port of Los Angeles.
