Who Should Pay Schmitz Case Costs
As a taxpayer, I resent that the State Senate Rules Committee reversed for a second time in favor of paying former state Sen. John Schmitz’s libel suit debt.
Schmitz lost against Gloria Allred, settling out of court for $20,000. Now the state wants to pay his debt. Schmitz should pay that debt out of his own pocket. It was his choice of oratory that got him into trouble, so why should the taxpayer suffer? When are the state legislators going to wake up?
