Police reported a new demonstration in the Soviet Armenian capital of Yerevan, scene of protests over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region since February. A spokesman told Reuters news agency by telephone from Yerevan that the demonstration took place Friday night. He declined to give details of the demonstration, which followed protests by hundreds of thousands of Armenians earlier in the summer before the Kremlin ruled out a transfer of Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia.
