Artur Wodjat of Poland won the men’s 800-meter and 200-meter freestyles Saturday to lead the Mission Viejo Nadadores to an overall men’s victory in the American Final Swimming Meet in Ft. Lauderdale.
Wodjat, 20, the current world-record holder in the 400-meter freestyle, finished the 800 in 8:05:34 and the 200 in 1:51:46. Mission Viejo’s total men’s team score was 626.5 at the end of the five-day meet.
Santa Barbara Swim Club placed second in the men’s competition with 510 points. The Pine Crest Swim Team of Ft. Lauderdale took first place in the women’s competition with a score of 563.5. A YMCA team from Alexandria, Va., took second place in the women’s competition with 292.
