Exciting Irkutsk
I read Art Wild’s article on the U.S.S.R. (July 24) with great interest as we recently traveled from Moscow to Irkutsk on the Trans-Siberian Railroad, a 3 1/2-day trip. Unlike the writer, we found Irkutsk to be exciting and rewarding. We wandered around at will, went to movie theaters, browsed in the shops, talked to people on the streets and glimpsed the day-to-day life of the average Russian.
