A mother and her young daughter and son who left their Seaside home last week to visit the Los Angeles area have been identified as the victims of a shooting spree Sunday in Lake View Terrace, authorities said Wednesday.
Los Angeles police said Lorretha Anderson English, 23, and her daughter, Chemise English, 2, were killed Sunday when an unknown gunman fired a shotgun several times into a car parked outside a house in the 11400 block of Wheeler Avenue suspected of being used for rock cocaine deals. English’s son, Carlos, 1, was slightly injured by flying glass during the shooting, police said.
Detective Al Ferrand said English and her children left their home Friday with a friend identified only as Tommy. They had borrowed a car and planned to drive to the Los Angeles area to visit friends.
Police were attempting to document where the victims went between Friday and the shooting at 5 p.m. Sunday at the house on Wheeler Avenue. Police found evidence inside the house that indicated there was a fourth victim, who had apparently been fatally shot and then removed from the house. The man named Tommy has not been found, and police think he may have been the person shot inside the house.
No arrests had been made in the case, and police had not identified any of the three suspects who fled from the house after the shooting. Police said no motive for the shooting had been established.
