MONTREAL — Tim Wallach singled home pinch-runner Pascual Perez with two out in the ninth inning as the Montreal Expos beat the Dodgers, 4-3, Wednesday night and snapped Los Angeles’ five-game winning streak.
It was the Expos’ first victory over the Dodgers in seven games this season.
Pinch-hitter Graig Nettles doubled with two out against reliever Alejandro Pena, 5-6. Perez came in to run for Nettles and scored when Wallach blooped a single into center field.
Jeff Parrett, 11-3, the third Montreal pitcher, was the winner despite allowing Mickey Hatcher’s game-tying single in the eighth.
The Dodgers had rallied for two runs in the eighth and knocked out starter John Dopson.
Mike Davis led off with a single and John Shelby greeted reliever Joe Hesketh with an RBI triple. Parrett replaced Hesketh and gave up a run-scoring single to Hatcher.
The Expos were held to one hit by Tim Belcher through four innings but rallied in the fifth to take a 3-1 lead.
Tim Wallach walked with one out and Rex Hudler singled one out later. Nelson Santovenia followed with a double just inside the right-field line to drive in both runners and scored on Dopson’s opposite-field two-base nit over the head of right fielder Kirk Gibson.
The Dodgers had taken a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on singles by Shelby, Franklin Stubbs and Rick Dempsey.
