Wide receiver Rick Massie of the Denver Broncos, hoping to take a train to his team’s game in San Francisco Sunday, suffered another claustrophobic attack Friday and had to get off the train.
According to a Bronco spokesman, Massie “freaked out” about 2 miles out of Denver’s Union Station and left the train. “I don’t want to go,” Massie told his traveling companions--his girlfriend and two television reporters--shortly after the train pulled out. “I can’t go. Stop the train.”
He was unable to make the team’s brief practice at mid-day Friday, and his status for Sunday’s game against the 49ers was uncertain.
Last Saturday, Massie suffered a claustrophobic seizure that forced him to get off the team’s chartered plane and take a chauffeured limousine to San Diego, where he arrived about 4 hours before the Broncos’ game against the Chargers.
The receiver is undergoing therapy for his condition and said he is determined to fly again soon.
