In a related case, Canadian police have begun an investigation into the illegal distribution of steroids.
A police spokesman said that Johnson was not directly involved in the probe, but that the drug, stanozolol, which was found in his system, is 1 of 30 steroids offered in advertisements placed in body-building magazines.
Under Canadian drug regulations, steroids are legally available only with a doctor’s prescription.
A first offense of distributing drugs without a prescription carries a fine of $500 Canadian, 3 months in jail or both.
