Moose Order Pledges $1 Million for Park

WASHINGTON — The Loyal Order of Moose on Wednesday pledged $1 million in contributions to the National Park Service to assist in the recovery of fire-ravaged Yellowstone National Park.
Almost half of Yellowstone’s 2.2 million acres was engulfed by eight fires that swept though the 100-year-old park from June through September, according to Dennis Galvin, deputy park service director.
Contributions from the Moose will be used to help fund the $25-million recovery plan designed to rehabilitate water tanks, visitor and ranger cabins, and restore 1,640 miles of damaged trail, fire lines and other man-made barriers used to combat the blazes, he said.
