A federal jury awarded more than $1.9 million to three former Quasar employees, who filed an age discrimination suit against the Illinois company, a subsidiary of Japanese-owned Matsushita Electric of America. John Fortino, 58, of Westmont, Ill., Carl Meyers, 53, of Lisle, Ill., and F. William Schulz, 54, of Northbrook, Ill., accused Quasar of discriminating against them because of their age when the company cut back its work force in 1986. Damages were doubled because the jury found the discrimination to be “willful.” Quasar could not be reached for comment.
