A 29-year-old man was paralyzed from the chest down Thursday afternoon when he lost control of his new motorcycle, crashed into a curb and was dragged 42 feet, police said.
Drake Garvin had just bought the motorcycle Thursday afternoon before he crashed in the 1200 block of Sunset Cliffs Boulevard, police said. He was wearing a helmet.
Garvin was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he was in fair condition Friday with a broken back, a hospital spokeswoman said.
