Fireball in Getaway Car Subdues Would-Be Robber

NEW YORK — A would-be robber who was doused with gasoline in an attempt to hold up a filling station was engulfed in a fireball that erupted in the getaway car, police said.
The unidentified man suffered burns over 80% of his body and was in critical condition at a hospital, a police spokesman said.
The driver of the getaway car, his clothing also in flames, was seen running from the explosion Friday night, the spokesman said.
