TransTechnology Reports $27 Million in Contracts

TransTechnology Corp., a Sherman Oaks manufacturer of products for the aerospace and defense industries, said it was awarded new contracts totaling $27 million in the first five weeks of this year.
The contracts included a $6.4-million award from the U.S. Defense Department for chaff, clouds of metalized glass fibers that aircraft and ships discharge as defensive decoys to draw radar-tracked weapons away from their intended targets.
TransTechnology said it also won a $5.8-million contract from an unidentified West German company to make hoists and control assemblies. Those products will be used by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization on multiple-launch rocket systems being built in Europe.
