Missouri Coach Has Ulcer Surgery

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Coach Norm Stewart of No. 3 Missouri underwent surgery today to correct a bleeding ulcer and is doing well, assistant Coach Rich Daly said.
“He had a small operation this morning. It was just something to take care of the problem. He’s doing very good,” Daly told The Kansas City Star.
Daly, who took over the Missouri coaching duties last Thursday, said he did not know how quickly Stewart might recover and resume coaching. “Everything’s a day at a time. He won’t be back today or tomorrow. He’s doing well, and that’s the important thing,” he said.
Stewart was listed in stable condition at Columbia Regional Hospital today.
Stewart, 53, suffered the attack last Thursday while en route to Oklahoma City on the team plane.
