BOGOTA, Colombia — Police said they raided a cocaine-processing plant in northwestern Colombia on Friday and fought a gun battle with drug traffickers who set the laboratory on fire.
Five people were arrested at the plant on a farm near Cartago, 125 miles west of Bogota, but some traffickers escaped during the shoot-out, apparently taking refined cocaine with them, police said.
They found chemicals to refine cocaine, four microwave ovens and a dormitory for 20 people.
