A woman working in a National City department store notified police that she had received a phone call from a man saying the car was parked in an alley on either 45th or 46th Street, near a park.
Police found the car parked in the shade in the 3700 block of Highland. The baby was still in the back, apparently in good health and unhurt, and was reunited with his parents about 3 p.m.
“The suspect, apparently thinking of the child’s predicament, took the keys to the car with him and then set the alarm off in the car to draw attention to the car,” Robinson said, adding, “Mr. Gomez will probably never leave his keys in the car again.”
