Joseph W. Brown Jr., 40, vice chairman of Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co., has been named chief operating officer of the Novato, Calif.-based company. He will have direct responsibility for its commercial, personal and specialty insurance divisions. Raymond Barrette, 38, was named chief financial officer. Robert W. Bruce III, 44, chief investment officer of the insurer’s parent in Greenwich, Conn., added the responsibilities of president of Fireman’s Fund Corp. Robert T. Marto, 43, was named chief financial officer of the corporation.
