P.M. BRIEFING : Pacific Telesis Boosts Dividend

SAN FRANCISCO — The Pacific Telesis Group board of directors today approved a dividend increase of 6.8%, from 44 cents per common share to 47 cents, for the first quarter of this year.
“This is our fifth consecutive annual dividend increase, demonstrating our continued commitment to enhance share owner value and our confidence in the future earnings potential of Pacific Telesis,” said Sam Ginn, chairman and chief executive officer. The dividend will be paid May 1 to share owners of record as of April 7.
