A man whom police have dubbed the “Walk-to-the-Back” bandit, robbed a beauty supply store Friday for an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.
The robbery is believed to be one in a series of more than 30 similar holdups that began in December, San Diego police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
The bandit walked into Lubey Beauty and Barber Supply in the 3600 block of Midway Drive just after 4 p.m., showed a handgun and ordered a female clerk to walk to the back of the store, Robinson said.
He rifled the cash register and fled, Robinson said.
He has robbed small businesses in East San Diego, La Mesa and El Cajon, usually selecting one where a female employee is working alone, Robinson said.
