Now It Can Be Told: When “Family Ties” wraps up seven award-winning seasons in mid-May on NBC, Alex P. Keaton (Michael J. Fox) will be preparing to leave home, having landed a job with a New York stock brokerage. The special hourlong finale will feature “emotional scenes” between Alex and each of his parents and siblings, NBC says, as they all try to deal with the traumatic event. The last episode will be No. 176 for the series that debuted Sept. 28, 1982. Fox and other cast members are moving on to other projects.
