Weinbach Nominated Chief at Andersen

Lawrence A. Weinbach, managing partner and chief operating officer of Arthur Andersen & Co., has been nominated to be managing partner and chief executive. The nomination is before the partnership for a vote.

If elected, Weinbach would succeed Duane R. Kullberg, who is in his third and final term as chief executive. Kullberg, who will become a senior partner, is relinquishing the position to help expedite a restructuring of the firm.

Weinbach was recommended for the post by Arthur Andersen’s new and expanded board of partners, which now has 24 members. He would become the sixth partner elected to the CEO post in the 75-year history of the professional services firm, which has headquarters in Chicago.

Weinbach, 49, joined the audit staff of Arthur Andersen in New York in 1961. He was elected a partner in 1970. In 1983, he became managing partner of the New York office and managing partner and chief operating officer of the organization in 1987.
