The Morning Report of May 23 announced that Mann Theaters has raised ticket prices from $6.50 to $7. A Mann spokesman is quoted as saying, “Moviegoing is still the least expensive of all leisure-time activities, including sports events, concerts and even dining out.”
This is not correct, at least as far as the Hollywood Bowl is concerned. The Bowl still makes tickets available for $1--to be exact, 26,300 tickets for 25 of its performances. There will be 60 Bowl events this summer with no less than 288,650 seats priced from $1 to $6.25.
These 60 events feature not only our renowned Los Angeles Philharmonic but many of the world’s most celebrated classical and jazz artists and ensembles.
