Former football player Paul Salata will be...

Former football player Paul Salata will be roasted by a panel of local celebrities at the Balboa Bay Club on Tuesday to benefit the Grove Shakespeare Festival. Salata, who played for the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Colts and who now is in the construction business in Newport Beach, has been a member of the Grove’s board of trustees since 1985. He has helped raise money for the Newport Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce, Hoag Hospital 552 Club and the Balboa Bay Club Board of Governors. He also is the founder of Newport Irrelevant Week, a fund-raising event for USC. Among those expected to roast Salata are Merlin Olsen, Ed Arnold, Thomas A. Fuentes, Assemblyman Gil Ferguson, state Sen. John Seymour and USC basketball Coach George Raveling. For ticket information, contact the Grove Shakespeare Festival (714) 636-7213.
