The Living-Room War
I got a chuckle--sort of--from one line in Howard Rosenberg’s article on the agony of Beijing. He was shocked that people in China got shot while sitting in their living rooms watching TV (“When Brutal Reality Hits Close to Home,” June 6).
Shucks, Howard, we get that right here in L.A. all the time--living room, front porch, freeway, street corner, you name it. Only this isn’t a fight for democracy, but a battle over the profits from drugs that destroy body and soul. Or over rivalries between gangs, which have taken the place of families.
