LOCAL : Spreading Fire Routs 31 Occupants

A blaze that ignited in an apartment building under construction in the Westlake area early this morning spread to a two-story house with 31 occupants, forcing their evacuation and triggering two injuries, authorities said.
One person who suffered from smoke inhalation and one firefighter who suffered from heat exhaustion were treated at the Hospital of the Good Samaritan, Fire Department spokesman Greg Acevedo said. Damage from the fire was estimated at $132,000.
