Skeletal remains found at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon a year ago have been identified as those of a missing young Brea man, according to authorities in Flagstaff, Ariz.
Detective Trevan Woolbright of the Coconino County sheriff’s office said the remains have been identified as those of 19-year-old Roger Keeling Jr., who disappeared in April, 1987.
Identification was made through a check of dental records, with assistance from the California Department of Justice, Woolbright said.
The remains were found June 24, 1988, at the base of a 500-foot cliff about one mile down Bright Angel Trail.
Woolbright said the death was being listed as a suicide.
