A 38-year-old parolee was arrested about 3 p.m. Friday after his Sylmar neighbors complained that he was firing a gun, Los Angeles police said.
Police Lt. George Rock said Steven Dasovich, who lives at the house in the 15000 block of Paddock Street where he was arrested, was booked on suspicion of being an ex-convict in possession of a firearm, a felony.
Rock said Dasovich was on parole from the state Department of Corrections on a charge of possessing a dangerous weapon. He was being held at the Van Nuys Jail without bail because of the parole violation.
Dasovich fired the sawed-off shotgun at least three times before police entered his home and arrested him without incident, police said.
Neighbors said Dasovich had been drinking the previous night and had also disturbed the neighborhood by firing the shotgun. No one was injured by the gunshots either Friday or the night before, Rock said.
