Stanford’s Tim Ryan, 18, put together six strong optional routines to edge 1988 Olympian Lance Ringnald for the men’s all-round title in the U.S. Gymnastics Championships at Bloomington, Minn.
Brandy Johnson, 16, of Altomonte Springs, Fla., didn’t score below a 9.65 in the optionals round to win the women’s title, finishing just ahead of Christy Henrich of Independence, Mo.
