U.S. Drops Geotek-Patlex Probe: Geotek Industries in Chatsworth and its former parent, Patlex Corp., said the U.S. government dropped a pending grand jury investigation of the companies. Geotek, a laser manufacturer, was spun off by Patlex in March. Patlex Treasurer Richard Laitinen said the companies do not know exactly why they were being investigated and that the government “told us nothing.” But they suspect that it involved Patlex’s export of certain lasers to foreign countries.
