Catholic Bishops Prohibit Mass for Gay, Lesbian Organization

The bishops will prohibit Roman Catholic priests from celebrating masses for Dignity. Your report also included the very negative and condemnatory Roman Catholic teaching about homosexuality.
Of course, this action and teaching encourage violence against gay and lesbian people, and the Roman Catholic Church must bear a heavy responsibility not only for this violence but for the intransigent and out-of-date dogma based on ignorance and superstition.
Furthermore, while Archbishop Mahony may speak for the Roman Catholic hierarchy, for some Roman Catholics, and surely for fundamentalists, he does not speak at all for the majority of socially literate Christians (including Episcopalians, Lutherans, Presbyterians, Methodists, Congregationalists, and a host of other smaller denominations), Jews, Muslims, and other religious bodies in this country.
