Aluminum Co. of America: The Pittsburgh-based company said second-quarter profit rose 20% to $285.2 million. The company said although aluminum sales have slowed in the weak construction and consumer durables sectors, strength in aircraft and cans has made up the slack. Earnings also were boosted by adjustments in the exchange rate with the Australian dollar. Revenue was up 11% to $2.76 billion.
