Symbolic Expressions: Should Confederate Flag Be Banned?

If a man had burned an American flag to protest higher taxes, or a big fat pay raise for Congress, or a ban on all firearms, I wonder if there would be this popular outcry for a constitutional amendment to prohibit the desecration of the flag?
