An armed robber stole about $5,000 in cash from the customer service department of the J.W. Robinson Co. department store in the Westminster Mall about 7 p.m. Tuesday, then sped away in a rust-colored car, authorities said.
Westminster police said the bandit waved a pistol before fleeing with the cash, but no one was hurt.
It was at least the second robbery at a Robinson’s store in Orange County in recent weeks. On July 10, a gunman took between $17,000 and $25,000 in cash from the Costa Mesa store, firing his gun accidently as he fled, Costa Mesa police said.
