SportScope : South Bay Stars in Baseball Classic

The South Bay Stars from Carson Park play their third game of the Summer Classic baseball tournament Saturday at 10 a.m. at Salazar Park in East Los Angeles against an opponent to be named later.
The single-elimination tournament is sponsored by the Los Angeles Parks and Recreation Department. The Stars compete in the Tiny Division for boys born in 1979 or 1980.
The team is coached by Joe Triana. His assistants are Johnny Walter, Jim Veit and Manny Carrasco. The players are Jo Jo Triana, Johnny Walter Jr., Brandon Veit, Kevin McCarthy, Joshua Canales, Joe Barba, Mark Wanger, Scott Williams, A. J. Viena, Matthew Tupuloa, Demond Williams, Eddie Carrasco, Frank Ramirez and Larry Nansel. The championship game will be played Aug. 5 at Bodger Park in Hawthorne.
