A former probation officer at Juvenile Hall was ordered Monday to stand trial on charges of molesting 10 girls he had contact with while they were incarcerated.
Robert Denny, 48, of San Diego, was bound over to Superior Court after a daylong preliminary hearing conducted by San Diego Municipal Judge Nicholas Kasimatis. Denny is charged with six felony sex charges and 14 misdemeanor counts of unlawfully touching the girls, all minors.
The judge dismissed some counts when some of the witnesses failed to show up or the prosecution did not present evidence on those counts.
Denny, who is free on $10,000 bail, will next appear in court Aug. 14, when a trial date will be set.
Many of the teen-age girls told of inappropriate sexual comments or touching incidents by Denny while they were in custody at Juvenile Hall. The victims were then all 15 to 17 years old. Denny was charged with the offenses in May.
