Two Airlines Cut Weekend Fares: Continental Airlines and Northwest Airlines cut domestic fares for the next five weekends, saying they would charge $150 or $200 for round-trip flights. Continental said the $150 fare would apply to “almost any” nonstop U.S. mainland round trip and that transcontinental and connecting flights would cost $200 a round trip. Northwest said its special fares apply throughout most of Northwest’s domestic route network. Both carriers said the non-refundable tickets must be purchased by Aug. 11 and travel must be completed by midnight, Sept. 4.
