American Mark Allen came from behind in the final leg to win the first world triathlon championship in Avignon, France.
The 30-year-old from Cardiff, Calif., won in 1 hour 58 minutes 46 seconds. Second was Glen Cook of Britain in 2:00:04, with Richard Wells of New Zealand third at 2:00:56.
Erin Baker of New Zealand won the women’s race in 2:10:02, with Jan Ripple of the U.S. second in 2:10:34.
