The San Diego City Council on Tuesday extended permanent protections against demolition and replacement to single-family homes in portions of seven neighborhoods.
The protections afforded homeowners in sections of Mira Mesa, Linda Vista, La Jolla, the College area, Otay Mesa-Nestor, Uptown and Tierrasanta are in keeping with the council’s growth-management strategy of preventing replacement of single-family homes with multifamily units.
The vote brings the number of protected homes to an estimated 130,000 in 30 neighborhoods.
