Musician and former “Hee Haw” host Buck Owens, who turns 60 this weekend, says Bob Wills and Little Richard had the most influence on his sound. And Owens will still take his rough-edged honky-tonk sound over what he considers overproduced country mush. “Assembly-line robot music turns me off,” says Owens, who is also an astute businessman involved with radio stations, real estate and publishing enterprises. Owens attributes much of his success to his no-frills attitude. “I mean, here’s the music, here’s what it is, I hope you like it. And if you don’t, well stick around and maybe we’ll have something you like better after a while. But not to apologize, you know.”
