P.M. BRIEFING : U.S. Firm Given China Concessions

BEIJING — China granted a series of concessions to the first U.S. company to agree to invest in the country since Beijing’s military crackdown in early June, the president of the company said today.
Mohammad Malekpour, president of privately owned, U.S.-based MGM Development Co., said in an interview that he won several “advantages” for a contract he signed Tuesday to develop an industrial park.
“China wants this project to be an example that it has not changed its open-door policy,” Malekpour said.
