East-West German Flights Scheduled

FRANKFURT, West Germany — Lufthansa airlines on Thursday inaugurated the first scheduled flights between West Germany and East Germany with an 80-minute trip from Frankfurt to Leipzig.
Previously, the two German states were linked by air only twice yearly, when special charters were arranged to take business people to and from the biannual Leipzig trade fair.
East Germany’s Interflug airline has been authorized under an agreement signed by officials from Bonn and East Berlin last month to provide service between Leipzig and Duesseldorf, West Germany. Weekly Interflug flights are expected to begin today.
