TORONTO — Scott Mellanby of the Philadelphia Flyers was in stable condition in a hospital today after suffering facial and neck cuts in a weekend brawl at a posh central Ontario resort.
The 23-year-old right wing was one of several people involved in the brawl that broke out Saturday after two people argued near the bar area at the Muskoka Sands Resort in Bracebridge, Ontario, provincial police said.
Mellanby and Jeff Frazer of Terra Cotta, just west of Toronto, were cut by broken glass during the fight. Both were transferred from South Muskoka Memorial Hospital to Toronto General Hospital, where Frazer was treated and released.
Police released no other details of the incident but said they were continuing their investigation.
