Whittaker Agrees to Sell Unit: Whittaker Corp. said it agreed in principle to sell its Chemical Coatings Group to Sherwin-Williams, a Cleveland-based paint manufacturer for an undisclosed price. The company said the Chemical Coatings Group, which makes industrial coatings, represents about 37% of the sales volume of all the businesses being sold, which Whittaker placed at $294 million in February. The group has eight operating divisions, 10 manufacturing plants in nine states--including two in California--and two research labs.
