Girl Shot in Foot; Police Blame Gangs
Gunfire from a passing car wounded a 1-year-old girl in the left foot as she stood in the doorway of her home in the Koreatown area of Los Angeles, police said Monday.
Stacy Arevalo was shot about 10:30 p.m. Sunday and was taken to Children’s Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition with fractured bones.
The girl’s parents, who were in their South Catalina Street house when the gunfire occurred, told police they knew of no reason for the attack. Officers said they believe Salvadoran gangs in the area were responsible for the shooting.
