Shortstop Tim Moore of La Habra High School said Monday that he has signed a contract with the Chicago Cubs.
Moore, who was a 12th-round selection in the June amateur draft, had planned to play at Fullerton College next year.
“I just didn’t feel I was ready for college,” Moore said. “I kind of wanted to give this a shot.”
Moore hit .530 for La Habra last season. He was an All-County selection and a second-team All-Southern Section pick.
He will begin playing in the Arizona Instructional League on Sept. 15.
